Waste management is the process of collecting waste, transporting it and sorting it and recycling it. Generally all waste materials are produced by human and waste management is undertaken in order to reduce health problems as well as helping the environment.
Apart from council waste removal, there are still a significant amount of items they don’t undertake and this means as responsible human beings we have a duty to arrange our own waste removal.
However, this does not mean we have to crush and recycle, what is does mean is that we need to arrange for the removal. This usually entails hiring a skip from a company who will not only remove our waste but will take on the responsibility for recycling it as well.
Waste collection differs from country to country but domestic waste collection is usually done by either local government or by private enterprises who specialise in the entire process of waste management.
From a global perspective waste management is important. Waste products have an effect on air pollution, water pollution and soil pollution plus the depletion of natural resources not to mention the ozone layer. Green gas emissions are slowly threatening the very survival of every living thing on the planet.
In large metropolitan cities such as London the amount of daily waste generated is enormous which has an impact on landfill sites. It is time for communities to band together to manage their own waste. Once waste has been collected by local government they no longer have a say in what happens to it.
Even Londoners have access to recycling companies and skip hire. It is their civic duty to get more involved.
