One of the most important things when you are thinking of hiring a skip is to get the right size of skip for your job. If you choose a skip which is too small then you will need to get it emptied and refilled again, which costs you more money. Hiring a skip which is too large for your needs will also cost you more money than necessary because you are paying for a size of skip which you are not using all of. However, common sense tells us that overestimating skip size needed is better than underestimating it.
Choosing a reputable skip hire company is also important. Use a company that you can find some independant information on, whether it simply be word of mouth from other happy customers, or online reviews. Don’t necessarily take one single review as gospel, but take all reviews into consideration and see whether there are significantly more good ones than bad before you make a final decision.
Ensure that you take local bylaws and council regulations into account when looking into skip hire. You may need a permit, especially if the skip will be on the public road rather than on your property. Ensure that you give your neighbours notice if the skip will have an effect on them and make sure that once full, the skip is collected quickly by the skip hire firm so that vermin are not attracted to the waste.
Take all of these things into account and you should have a much more hassle-free skip hire experience.
