Contrary to the popular belief that size doesn’t matter, size matters a whole lot when it comes to skip hire. So, what is the right sized skip?
Small skips, such as 4 yard midi skips, are great for their ability to handle the sorts of volumes of waste that you may potentially have considered utilising a car trailer for. The benefit with skip hire for these sorts of volumes is that skips can take considerably greater weights of waste, and you only need to load a skip once before having it taken away on your behalf.
6 and 8 yard builders’ skips are very popular for waste removal due to their versatility. These skips will take large volumes of waste typical for domestic projects, such as kitchen replacements. They have walk in access for removing heavier waste and they achieve all of this without being prohibitively large and difficult to position.
For those big projects, large builders skips are available in 12 and 16 yard sizes, These have high sides and are primarily dependent on walk in access and end on loading, unless you are training caber tossers in throwing technique. These large skips are less commonly used but are great for large scale projects such as house clearances. These are not suitable for heavy, loose waste, such as soil.
