Cleaning and getting rid of old, broken goods are a task that most dread. Some say that the worst part is the not knowing what to do with the rubbish left behind. A garage sale is a good idea but not all garbage is another mans treasure. Being stuck with tons and tons of black bags piling up in front of your home is not very attractive either.
The solution here is to hire a skip. A skip is generally used to move rubbish from one location to a waste ground or dump. Before attempting to hire a skip there are a few pointers one has to know.
A skip can be placed in ones drive way however, if you do not have space and wish to place it in the road, a licence from the local council is required. There are also limits on which items can be placed within a skip.
Items Not Allowed In Skips
Equipment such as refrigerators and freezers are an absolute no-no when it comes skip hires. This, as well as televisions and monitors are not allowed to be disposed of in skips. Things like tyres should also not be placed in skips.
It is also not best to put paint cans, liquids and any oils on skips and any asbestos products should be disposed of in another way. Medical waste can also not be thrown in skips and make sure that when hiring a skip, you do not intend on throwing toxic materials, batteries or florescent tubes therein.
