Why so many skips?

Why on earth do skips come in so many different sizes? The reason is that the smallest household projects do not warrant the same sized skip as a large business producing tonnes of waste on a daily basis; but surely the broad range available is a little over the top, isn’t it?

Arguably we are spoilt for choice with sizes of skips, but the varying sizes do offer different solutions for different projects and premises. Whilst the different features of different skips may lead you towards a certain skip choice, the premises and potential location for the skip on the site may be the driving factor behind the final decision on skip choice. If skip hire was limited to simply small skips, giant skips and one in-between model, there may not be a practical solution for all skip hirers.

So what are the different sizes and the benefits of these? The smallest skips can probably be considered as similar to a household car trailer. Clearly we believe they offer many advantages over the car trailer but they are simply a metal box that will take a reasonably large volume of waste.

Builder’s skips are bigger and offer one major advantage beyond capacity; walk in access is perfect for disposing of heavy and loose waste such as that carried in a wheelbarrow. These builders’ skips come in many different sizes.

Giant roll on and off skips take huge volumes of waste but are almost solely utilised commercially. At Simpsons Skip Hire, we can offer all of these skips to meet your skip hire needs in the London area.
