The simple approach could be to get the biggest available skip. This may not be the most sensible option as, unsurprisingly, the larger the skip, the greater cost. However, there is a sensible principle here. It is always better to have a skip that may be slightly too large than one which doesn’t do the job needed of it.
Midi skips are great for one off, small scale projects as they are competitively priced and their compact size may give greater scope for positioning them on site (providing there is access for the delivery lorry). These skips have low sides and are convenient to load up with lighter waste. Often they do not have walk-in access, so may not be the first choice skip for loading with heavy waste.
Builder’s skips are probably the most common skips seen outside of industrial use as they balance a reasonably large capacity for waste handling with walk-in access and are usually straightforward to obtain a permit for.
The bigger yard skips are the same shape as builders skips with higher sides. Primarily, these are used for large scale projects. Probably beyond the needs of most domestic users, these skips will require a reasonably large area for both delivery and locating for several days use.
Roll on and off skips are for seriously large scale waste management and unlikely to be located successfully on many public streets around the London area.
At Simpsons Skip Hire, we offer all of the above skips. Whatever your needs, we should be able to cater for your skip hire requirements.
