The UK boasts one of the largest and most financially important cities in Europe; London. London plays host to a massive population of roughly twelve million people over an area of 117 square miles.
Yes the UK sports some picturesque countryside but that countryside is in grave danger. The 12 million strong population of London alone creates a huge amount of waste each and every day. If the UK does not step in at every opportunity the country will become overrun by unmanaged waste.
It is estimated that by the year 2010 the landfills in the UK will have reached their limits, they will be full. The UK citizens will no longer have place to dump their waste and the country faces drowning in its own rubbish. Horrible scenario, but sadly true.
War on waste
How does recycling what goes into a skip help ease the pressure on existing landfills? By recycling organic garden and food wastes, ecologically friendly waste doesn’t take up precious space in a landfill. The organic material is made into compost with deposits valuable nourishment back into the earth.
By recycling plastics, glass, scrap metals and all other recyclable materials the UK population is saving their dwindling landfills from being bogged down under waste that does not need to be there.
That leaves only non reusable rubbish to be dumped, saving space and buying the landfills some more time. Every glass bottle, plastic container and cardboard box that gets dumped into a landfill makes the sands run out of the hourglass faster for the environment and skip waste recycling helps buy back some of that time.
